The Big Lake Community League is participating in a casino fundraising event on Monday, June 08 and Tuesday, June 09, 2026. The casino will be held at Grand Villa Casino Edmonton, 10204 104 Ave NW (Rogers Place).

The casino is a major fundraiser event for the community league, as it should help us fund larger projects that we have not been able to support previously.

​

But we cannot do this without help from our community members! So, if you would like a fun way to give back to your community, look no further!

​

No experience is necessary to become a Casino Volunteer, and you can invite your family and friends who live outside of Big Lake to volunteer with you. All volunteers must be 18+. If you volunteer for both days, you will act in the same role for both days.​

Deadline to sign up as a volunteer is March 31, 2026.

Volunteer opportunities for the casino include:​

 

​Banker

You control the main Cash Cage floats of chips and cash. Your top priority is to assist cashiers by monitoring their pay outs.
You are assisted directly by the Professional Cash Cage Advisor for all activities.

 

Cashier

You pay off players’ chips and make change. You are assisted/supervised by Banker/Manager and the Professional Casino Advisor.

Chip Runner

You are a courier (runner) for chip orders for the casino games. You are not usually too busy except at the opening and closing of the casino day.

Count Room

Count room volunteers will take on one of four possible jobs, which will be assigned at the start of the shift. 

1. Sorter: Sorts all cash or chips by denomination

2. Counter: Counts the sorted cash or chips, by denomination

3. Recorder: Records the number of bills, coins, and chips counted

4. Amalgamator: Verifies the cash or chips counted and groups them into bundles and summarizes the cash and chips with the count room supervisor ​
