Horseshoe Creek & 137 Construction Project

During the week of June 21, 2026, the pedestrian bridge over Horseshoe Creek and the road beside it (137 Avenue) had to close due to extreme erosion. The City of Edmonton and EPCOR worked hard to address the critical issues but there is a long-term project that must be completed for the safety of all residents, including wildlife.

Two-way traffic along 137 Avenue has been restored; however, as monitoring gets underway to maintain site safety, speed limits will be reduced to 30 km/h near the bridge and traffic calming measures such as temporary speed bumps will be in place. Signage will be used to alert motorists to these changes.

The community will be updated regarding any new developments and construction impacts that may be necessary until these teams can move forward with a long-term solution.

We expect to hear the long-term plans in late July/early August. Until then, any resident can always contact EPCOR at 780-412-4500 with questions or concerns.
