The City of Edmonton started surface asphalt repairs on Trumpeter Way this past week (May 25).
The community league has received additional information to help residents plan their routes.
Note: the entire process is set to continue until Thursday, July 9, 2026 (weather dependent).
What you can expect:
● Some traffic disruption including road closures for work to be completed.
● Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
● A restriction on roadway parking will be enforced during the construction. As a
reminder, ‘No Parking’ signs will be placed in the area approximately one to two
days in advance of the work starting.
● Any cars parked in the ‘No Parking’ areas will be towed to the next street over when
construction is taking place.
● If you have a vehicle parked on the roadway, we recommend finding a temporary,
alternative parking space. Your help will ensure crews can work efficiently and safely.
● Prior to paving, a tack coat will be laid on the roadway, this can leave marks on
driveways and sidewalks if driven on with vehicles.
SURFACE ASPHALT REPAIR PROCESS
Step 1 - Grinding Phase - Completed phase. This stage typically lasts 3 to 5 days as crews utilize heavy equipment to remove the surface levels of defective asphalt. 'No Parking' signs and Road
Closures will be in place.
There is now a break between phases. During this break, normal driving and parking conditions resume.
Step 2 - Paving Phase. Estimated start is the week of June 8th. This process usually spans 3 to 5 days as crews replace the defective
asphalt with new material using heavy equipment. 'No Parking' signs and Road Closures
will be enforced. After paving is finished, normal driving and parking activities resume until
the subsequent phase.
Step 3 - Leveling Stage. Approximately 1 to 2 weeks after paving, crews return to adjust
existing utilities such as manholes and valve vaults to ensure the new surface is level.
Parking will only be affected around each utility item for a day or two.
Please respect all posted signs and speed limits, and follow the flaggers’ signals during
construction.
